Your recon pianos, where are they originate from?

All pianos available at Setapak showroom are from Japan, imported as used (pre-owned), then locally restored here in Malaysia before displaying them at the Setapak showroom.
Do you sell brand new acoustic units?
Answer:
Unfortunately, all our pianos are used and reconditioned. We do not sell or distribute brand new units. If you are looking for one, we are happy to recommend you suppliers that are currently selling brand new pianos.
Why should I consider buying a recon piano instead?
Answer:
There are many decision-making factors when you are considering buying a reconditioned piano instead of a brand new one. Below are some of the common traits that we usually encounter:
What has been restored or done on your recon pianos?
Answer:
Below are fraction disclosures about what we had restored or replaced during the restoration process.

Any warranty coverage if I purchase a piano from your company?
Answer:
YES! all our pianos, both upright or grand do come with 5 Years Warranty by our company.
Warranty basically covers FREE labour charges, replacement or repair of interior parts, fixing technical issues like sticky keys, rattling sound on pedals, etc.
Please note that there are areas where our warranty coverage is not included or void
I know nothing about piano. Do I have any assistant to help out?
Answer:
YES! You will be assisted on a one on one piano assessment basis during your visit to Setapak showroom.
In case you are not able to make it due to geographical or other reasons, you can still consult us at +6011 1722 5362 or chat via FB Messenger to clarify most of your doubts or enquiries.
Is every single piano model displayed on your website available at Setapak showroom?
Answer:
We import and refurbish over 150 different piano models and usually, these pianos come in container batches from Japan. Hence, the stock availability of a particular model is subjected while stock last.
You can be rest assured that majority of them are frequently restocked on a monthly to quarterly basis. Unfortunately, there are also several models that are pretty rare and limited in volume e.g. Yamaha UX30A, Kawai US8X, Kawai Shigeru Grands, etc. – once they are sold, we may have to wait much longer until our Japanese suppliers restock them.
Even though we have an average of 50-100 different models readily available on a daily basis here at Setapak showroom, we would suggest you contact us upfront before your visit to avoid any disappointment if the model you are looking for was sold out.

Are those piano photos posted in your website REAL?
Answer:
YES! they are all actual photos taken by us in Setapak showroom, most of them via mobile cameras and none of us are professional photographers.
AUTHENTICITY is the main feature of this website.
All we wanted is to showcase our pianos so that our website visitors are able to experience WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) rather than just viewing graphic or artist impressions and stock images.
And we too at Setapak showroom, are REAL people doing REAL business – delivering quality pianos and reliable customer services.

Do I need to make any appointment before visiting Setapak showroom?
Answer:
We do prefer you to schedule an appointment before your visit to Setapak showroom. Otherwise, send us a short text message 30 minutes before your arrival.
At least, we can know what are the piano models, specifications or budget range you are looking for. A quick and basic information is sufficient for us to get ourselves prepared with some relevant piano models to show you during your visit.
Moreover, we will also ensure our technical assistant is readily available to guide you on the 1-on-1 piano assessment basis. This not only saves time, it makes your trip more efficient and productive as well.

Can I trade in my old existing piano to buy a recon unit from you?
Answer:
YES! we do accept trade-in of your acoustic piano when you upgrade or purchase a piano from us. Unfortunately, we are not able to trade-in if yours is a digital piano or keyboard model.
I have an under-utilised piano that I want to sell, does your company accept “Buy-Back” only?
Answer:
Currently, our company mainly accept trade-in of your existing piano when you purchase any piano from us.
Unfortunately, we do not have any “Buy-Back only” for non-existing customers at this moment. We suggest you sell your piano via marketplaces e.g Mudah, Lowyat, instrument-related website portals, music centres or through friends and relatives instead.
* For our existing buyers, “Buy-Back” is only applicable on a case-by-case basis, subjected to company’s management approval.
Do you sell new or used digital pianos?
Answer:
Unfortunately, our core business is to focus mainly on acoustic pianos. Furthermore, we do not have any technical expertise in handling or dealing with digital pianos.
We are the authorised dealer for brand new CASIO digital pianos, and each unit does come with a 1-year warranty from the brand manufacturer. If you are looking for one, we are glad to quote you our best price.
How do I make the payment? Any deposit required?
Answer:
We accept Cash, Debit and Credit Cards (Master, Visa only) and Balance Transfer (via T/T, Online Banking, ATM Deposit). Occasionally, cheques are accepted on a case-by-case basis upon company management approval.
Payment terms (only applicable for individual buyers, institutes or companies) as follows:
After we received your deposit, the purchase unit will be reserved and secured from being resold to other buyers. An official receipt of the deposited amount will also be issue to you as well.
Deposit is non-refundable but transferable if you decide to switch (upgrade, downgrade or change) to another piano model instead.
Do you accept debit card, credit card or instalment payments?
Answer:
YES! We do accept both debit and credit cards payments. Unfortunately, we do not have any instalment plan available at this moment.
Suggestion:
You can use your credit card to make the payment and self-convert into instalment plans. There will be NO any surcharge imposed by us when you make credit card payments.
We are aware that some banks do offer balance transfer or some sort of instalment services for their card members with little or zero interest*

How can your company support me if I am staying far away from Setapak?

My piano was successfully delivered to me, so what’s next?
Answer:
Once the piano is delivered, you are required to turn on the piano heater while waiting for our appointed tuner to contact you to schedule your 1st tuning service for FREE. Usually, the 1st tuning will be done within 1-2 weeks after the delivery.
In case you’re not available, away from home or no one has contacted you for the tuning service, please do not hesitate to call us to reschedule a tuning appointment.
I am a music dealer and/or international buyer for bulk purchases, what is your buying procedure?
Answer:
We suggest you contact us to discuss further on the purchase dealing. It’s a bit complex, it requires case by case handling basis.

What is your shipping fee to East Malaysia?
Answer:
There will be an additional shipping cost (billed separately) depending on the postal location in Sabah and Sarawak. Usually, it is much cheaper delivering pianos near main towns (e.g. Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Miri, Bintulu, etc.) or near sea ports.
ETA will be around 3-4 weeks’ time from Port Klang to your designated postal location and the fees are as follow:

What is your international shipping procedure?
Answer:
There will be additional shipping cost billed separately for International CIF (cost, insurance, freight) and the charges vary depending on the postal destinations.
We do ship all our pianos via sea freight from Port Klang, Malaysia and depending on the purchase quantity, it can be stored in either a shared or self-loading shipping container.
All pianos are insured and safely packed individually (with either cardboard or wooden packing) before loading them into the containers. In most cases, the shipped cargo will be fumigated to disinfect wood-based materials before exporting – a legal requirement by many international custom policies.

The forwarder we engage is only able and has limited us to ship our pianos from Malaysia port to any of your designated seaport worldwide. Hence, you may need to engage your own local forwarder to custom clear the good and transport it back to your premise.
Alternatively, we also do FOB (Free on Board Shipping Point) at Port Klang, Malaysia as well.
** For Singapore buyers only – we will be transporting the pianos from Setapak, KL to Johor then to Singapore via land transportation (lorries). Estimated transport charges: MYR2000 – MYR2200 (for upright only)

I wanted to move or relocate my piano to another location, what should I do?
Answer:
If you are moving your piano from one place to another (on the same floor), 1st you need to remove the caster cups that are supporting the piano wheels. Then, gently push the piano toward your desired location or room. Finally, position back the caster cups to secure the piano from moving around.
** For upright owners – you will need to allocate a few inches away between the wall and your piano.

Moving my piano via staircases, is there any extra charges?
Answer:
YES! we do charge an extra fee if we are required to move or relocate your piano via staircases.

My newly arrive piano has technical issues, what should I do?
Answer:
Do not worry or panic. In rare cases, minor technical errors would happen even after our Quality Control (QC). It may also be due to the delivery process from our Setapak showroom to your place.
Each purchased piano does come with a 5 Year Warranty coverage*. Just give us a call or send us your feedbacks (complaints), we will then send our support team to assist and fix the issues as soon as possible.

My piano is due for re-tuning, who should I look for?
Answer:
Tuning service is usually conducted once or twice a year depending on your usage. We at Setapak showroom offer professional tuning services for both uprights and grands. You may want to refer here for more details.
My piano is not working properly after playing it for some time now, and it is still under warranty. How do I submit a complaint?
Answer:
There are possibilities where technical issues may happened and that’s normal due to wear and tear situation. All you need is to contact our support team and we will do our best to get it fixed ASAP.

Do you provide piano rental service? I want to rent one for my upcoming function event.
Answer:
YES! we do rent our pianos (upright or grand) to functions and events, concerts, performances, parties etc. on a ONE (1) day basis.

I didn’t use my existing piano for ages, what should I do to start playing it?
Answer:
We suggest you to engage a qualified piano technician to help inspect the unit 1st. It may only require a regular tuning service if all internal parts are still in good working condition.
We do offer inspection services for piano owners within Klang Valley at a minimal fee of MYR100.
Our technician will be able to advise you about what needs to be done if it is beyond tuning alone, e.g. regulation and alignment, overhaul action, repair or replacing of piano parts etc – together with a price quote for the restoration cost as well.

I would like to custom paint my existing piano, how much does it cost?
Answer:
Price for a custom paint job varies depending on the complexity, colour shades and also finishing effects.

I am looking for a piano model which is not available in your website, can I preorder one?
Answer:
Yes you can. Occasionally, we do encounter customer that is looking for a particular model e.g Yamaha C1, Kawai SK3 or other piano brands, which isn’t in our list.
Option 1:
We can assist you in sourcing it from our suppliers (or network of existing resources).
If one exist, we will then notify you about its availability and the cost to acquire it.
You will need to preorder (deposit) before we are to ship-in to Malaysia.
Option 2:
Alternatively, we will match the next closest unit we have in our showroom, similar specifications to your searched model.
